The title of this post is a bit misleading because I'm not actually "sketching". Sand paper is usually used to get the distressed look, right? Well, what if we used sand paper for another purpose... what if we draw with it?

I've been wanting to explore the idea of sketching with sand paper... achieving the texture of a dry etching or woodcut. That's what I'm doing with the scratches on this piece. This petite dresser, no more than 30 inches tall, was a good candidate to explore this new technique.

If you're interested in a tutorial, let me know and I'll add it to this post. Thanks!

Here's a shot of my piece in Peg Leg Vintage, the fabulous vintage modern store that sells some of my work.
