Layered Green Chest of Drawers

There's nothing fussy or delicate about this chest of drawers. It's a tough piece that wouldn't even surrender its drawer pulls to me... Seriously, I couldn't even loosen the screws. Its seemed appropriate to reflect its strength in the paint treatment.

My favorite pieces are the ones that sit quietly in a room, doing their job as they reflect calm beauty. They don't scream for attention or demand accolades. This piece, even in its pre-painted state, seemed beautiful in an unpretentious way so the paint treatment needed to compliment what was already there.

Concept Two different shades of green are used to create the look of something that has received a few layers of paint over many decades of use. The top was sanded down then given a honey stain finish. The light stain helps to highlight the dings and imperfections on the surface, giving it a butcher block feel.

Here's the only before shot I have. It's not that great but gives you an idea of what it looked like.
