Green Cabinet

STYLING TIP
As I was gathering props for this photo shoot, I didn't want to dwarf this short cabinet by placing artwork on the wall. So I considered shooting from a different perspective. I placed the camera close to the cement floor and put the props in the foreground with the main subject behind them. I found that shooting from this perspective is helpful when you don't have the right wall art for a product shot and when the props are full of texture and fun shapes. The image below illustrates my point: the artwork on the wall distracts me, drawing my eye upward rather than to the cabinet. The second image seems more balanced and focused. Which do you prefer?
PROCESS
This cabinet was painted in Benjamin Moore Aura Louisberg Green (HC-113). It was distressed then sealed with Varathane Polyurethane. For more tutorials, visit my Resources page.
