Highlights of November's Work

BLACK & JAVA BUFFET

In its original form, everything about this dresser was just perfect... except for the finish. I replaced the original light golden toned wood with black and dark stain to enhance the overall design and highlight the brass hardware. This dresser was ordered by a local customer who stopped by the workshop to discuss this project. Together we came up with the design but it was the client's suggestion to highlight the cabinet doors with wood stain. What a great idea!

RED & GOLD Custom Dresser

This dresser was ordered by a local customer who has purchased several of my pieces. She brought the dresser to me... I think this is an IKEA dresser. A bit of red and gold is all it needed to transform it to sheer elegance.
I  RESOURCES: Zinsser Oil-Based Primer; Benjamin Moore Aura in Caliente (AF-290) in satin; General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in satin. TOOLS: Ridgid Orbital Sander for prep; 6" high density foam roller and 1" synthetic brush for application.  I

IRON ORE & GOLD CONTEMPORARY DRESSER

This piece is all about color inspired by the Periodic Table. I explain the color inspiration in a post written about the matching tallboy. It's worth a look at the dresser's delapidated condition to truly appreciate what sand paper and a clear coat of sealer can do to bring out the beauty of mid century wood veneers. Stunning. A local customer bought this for their child's nursery.

IRON ORE & GOLD CLASSIC DRESSER

After completing the mid century dresser (above) and tallboy in this amazing color, I glanced over to an antique dresser that sat in the corner of the workshop and knew that the paint's gray tones would work very well on the chest's golden wood. To achieve the texture, I sanded the piece with an orbital sander then applied only one coat of paint then distressed it by hand.

NEUTRAL  SUITE

I had the pleasure of working with two sisters who brought several of their own dressers to me. I'm so sorry that I didn't shoot pictures of a lovely set of dressers for one of the sisters. I did have the chance to shoot pictures of two of the three dressers I did for the sister who lives in NYC. All three pieces in the set (long dresser not shown) were sanded then painted a light neutral color. The customer took delivery on these pieces before making a final decision on hardware for the tall chest. She found hardware for the long dresser and chest at Anthropologie.
